TROPICAL STORM SENDONG DISASTER VICTIMS ASSISTANCE APPEAL FOR SOUTHERN PHILIPPINES (SENDISASTER APPEAL)

Southern Philippines (Regions 9, 10, 11 and Caraga ) recently suffered significant damages from floods and landslides due to Tropical Storm Sendong (International Name: Washi) (Reference: NDRRMC Situation Report No 5, dated 18 Dec 2011).

In particular, massive flooding has been reported all over Region 10 (Iligan City of Lanao del Norte, Valencia City of Bukidnon, Cagayan de Oro City of Misamis Oriental, 6 villages of Ozamis City, Misamis Occidental . Reports affirmed that the overflowing of the river systems of Mandulog and Agus as the source of the flooding.

In response to the call for assistance to victims of floods and landslides in Southern Philippines (Mindanao), the Australian Mindanao Multicultural Communities Inc (AUSMINDANAO) and the Australian Visayan Multicultural Communities Inc (AUSVISAYAN) is appealing for the needed financial assistance to the TROPICAL STORM SENDONG DISASTER VICTIMS ASSISTANCE APPEAL FOR SOUTHERN PHILIPPINES PROJECT (SENDISASTER APPEAL Project)

All proceeds will be donated to the local non-government organizations in the affected provinces of Southern Philippines. Donation can be deposited in the bank.

Vote Ronaldo Villaver for President of Australian Democrats NSW Division

Dear Fellow Members of Australian Democrats NSW Division,


This is to inform all members of Australian Democrats NSW division that I am running as President of our division in the forthcoming 2011 annual general meeting and election.
As you probably know, I was the number two upper house candidate of our party in the recently concluded NSW State Election. Likewise, during the last federal election, I was the party candidate representing the Greenway Electorate.
If ever given the mandate to become your division president, I will lead the division in pursuing the following programs/projects:
A. Improve the governance of the division
B. Improve the communication flow between and among members of the division
C. Improve the financial standing of the division
D. Massively utilise social media in promoting the division to the NSW Electorates
E. Revamp the division website
F. Undertake the conduct of democracy fora, symposia among related events
G. Enhance division membership drive
H. Conduct university-based related activities
I. Monitor and/or attend sessions of NSW Parliament and issue media release as needed
J. Actively engage and represent the division in the affairs of Australian Democrats National Office

We are also celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal, the national hero of the Philippines.

ANZAC Day Celebrations in Western Sydney

Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) Day is celebrated every 25 April in Australia.

The ANZAC Day celeberation was forged on 25 April 1915 when the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps landed at Gallipoli, Turkey. More than 8,000 Australian soldiers were killed and more than 19,000 wounded at Gallipoli.

In Blacktown, NSW, an ANZAC Day March was held in the early morning today. The parade started at the corner of Sunnyholt Road and Second Avenue and proceeded to Blacktown RSL. A dawn service was held at the Cenotaph at Blacktown RSL followed after the march.

Following the service was a breakfast at RSL Club auditorium.

The live entertainment started at 8:30 am and will end at 7pm.
